San Francisco Stair Company
About Us
I am a third-generation stair builder. I started installing floors when I was 14-years old at my family's company during summer, Easter, and Christmas vacation. After 3 years of installing floors, I started building stairs. For the past 12 years, I have been designing, building, and installing free-standing wood staircases for some of the Bay Area's finest contractors. The majority of our jobs are concentrated in Burlingame, Hillsborough, Woodside, Menlo Park, Atherton, and San Mateo Park.
As the Head Fabricator and Head Installer at my family's company, I had a full scope of responsibilities. I was involved in every aspect of stair-building, from design to fabrication to installation. Although I know how to cover contractor stairs, I specialize in wedge-system stairs (ie. the way that DiCristina used to build stairs throughout San Francisco). Some of my more specialized skills include using a shaper with slip knives and fabricating handrails and custom handrail parts. Additionally, I am thoroughly familiar with all of California's stair and handrail codes (commercial, residential, and ADA). In short, I know everything there is to know about the trade.
